If you are shopping for a Costco massage chair, you want a proper chair at a fair price. So we took four full-body chairs from Costco.com and set them next to the Relaxe chair, on price, home trial, fit, reviews and delivery.

We chose these four because they are the closest we found to the Relaxe chair: a full-length roller track, air massage, foot rollers and built-in speakers. They are listed at $5,000 to $8,000. Costco also lists chairs below that, and we have kept to chairs in this class so the comparison is like for like.

The short version: the Relaxe chair costs little more than half what the cheapest of the four does, and gives you a full year to be sure.

Why Relaxe comes out ahead

Thousands of dollars less.

The Relaxe chair is $2,799 right now, down from $5,330. The four Costco chairs here are listed at $4,999.99 to $7,999.99, so the cheapest is about $2,200 more and the dearest about $5,200 more. Some of those Costco prices are limited-time prices, so they may move. Relaxe’s price and free in-home delivery are part of the current offer, so check the product page for today’s terms.

A full year to decide.

Relaxe gives you 365 days at home, with a full refund less the cost of return shipping. Costco’s chair listings promise a satisfaction guarantee “with some exceptions and limitations”. Relaxe’s terms are simpler. A chair this size is something you learn to live with, and a year covers every season and every mood.

It fits more people.

Relaxe is made for people up to 6’4" and 330 pounds. The four Costco chairs list weight capacities of 265 to 300 pounds. If anyone in your home is heavier than that, the Relaxe chair is the one built for them.

It comes inside your home.

Costco’s chairs come with white glove delivery and setup. The Relaxe chair needs nothing assembled, arrives in 2 to 5 business days, and the current offer includes free in-home delivery.

Free in-home delivery, a $200 value.

The current Fall Season Offer includes it, so the chair comes inside your home, not just to the curb. You choose it at checkout.

The features you use most.

Some of the Costco chairs add 4D or 5D rollers, more automatic programs or leg stretching. The Relaxe chair has what you use most: a full-length track, air massage, heat in the lower back and a zero gravity recline. Two of the Costco listings leave something out. The FALCON lists no heat, and the Cyber Relax lists no zero gravity.

Hundreds of owners, not a handful.

Relaxe is rated 4.8 out of 5 across 896 reviews. The most-reviewed of the four Costco chairs has 127 reviews, and one has 4.

What you get with the Relaxe chair

Diagram of the Relaxe 53-inch SL-track following the curve of the body, compared with a standard S-track — The 53-inch SL-track follows your spine from neck to thighs.

The track runs the full 53 inches from your neck down to your thighs, with four shiatsu rollers working along it and automatic shoulder positioning that finds where to start. Twenty-eight airbags squeeze your shoulders, arms, hips, calves and feet. There is heat in the lower back, foot rollers for your soles, and one button that tips you into zero gravity, with three angles to choose from.

You are not stuck with a preset. There are 12 automatic programs and 5 manual techniques, with 5 speeds, 3 widths and 3 air pressure levels, all from a remote with a color display. Bluetooth, USB and memory card playback are built in, along with surround sound. A retractable calf frame adapts to different heights, and Relaxe recommends the chair for people from 5’1" to 6’4" and up to 330 pounds.
